I fly alot, going back and forth from my home in Indiana to the reservations in Arizona and New Mexico. When I fly, I usually check my bags so I really don't have to worry about what is in them. The last time I flew I didn't check a bag, I just took a carry-on. When I was packing I had to really think through what I was putting into that carry-on bag. Through my flying experience, I knew that the airport had very strict guidelines about what I could and could not carry on to the airplane. I knew that my bag would be undergoing a very close x-ray examination and if I had something in my bag that didn't meet the airport's guidelines, the x-ray examination would reveal it and it would be thrown out. These guidelines are put into place for my good.
As my bag passed through the x-ray at the airport, I began to think that my life could be compared to my carry-on bag. Just as my carry-on has to pass through the airport's x-ray examination, my life should be able to pass through God's x-ray examation.
Just like the airline guidelines, God's word is full of guidelines that He has put into place for my good. That day at the airport, I had to ask myself; "As I have carefully evaluated my carry-on, am I carefully evaluating myself?" (I Corinthinas 11:28) Am I filling myself with God's word every day or am I wasting my time filling myself with the world? (Colossians 3:16) Am I going about God's business every day or am I going about the world's business? (Titus 2:12) Am I a reflection of Christ or am I a reflection of the world?" (John 15:19)
I want to be able to pass God's x-ray examination. I want to fill myself with God's word every day. I want to go about God's business. And I want to be a reflection of Christ, so that my work will be shown for what it is, so that it will survive the fire that tests it's quality and so that I will receive my reward. I Corinthinans 3:12-15 To God Be The Glory!
