I'm on the San Carlos Apache Indian Reservation preparing for a group of 35 coming from Bakersfield, California on Saturday, April 4th. I've been shopping, investigating potential constrution projects and talking with my ministry partners about schedules, housing, meals, etc. I'm getting all the prep done before the group arrives on Saturday. We've got alot planned for the week. They will be doing 4 Bible studies at the Youth Center, playing games and making crafts with the teens in the youth center, installing a basketball goal, painting the church next door, installing shelves, planting a garden, giving out free clothing to the community at the daily market in San Carlos, building relationships with the teens that come to the youth center, etc. It looks like a great week ahead of us.
And because it looks like a great week, the spiritual warfare has begun. But, "Greater is He who is in you than He who is in the world." The victory is already won! Will you please lift this project up to the Lord as you read this and stand with me in taking the victory?
While I am preping for this project on San Carlos I am in the process of setting up a custom trip for a group from Illinois to go to Fort Apache in July. I was on the Fort Apache Reservation in Whiteriver, Arizona yesterday looking for housing for the group. I didn't secure anything but have 2 leads that I need to follow up on this week. Will you please partner with me in prayer also for finding housing for this July project?
As I sit here on the San Carlos Apache Reservation, God reminds me how blessed I am in life. I have a ministry that I love, family that supports me and I hold dear to my heart, so many friends on the reservations that I love to visit when I'm out west, a God that meets my every need and then sometimes He gives me a "want". Actually, He has given me several "wants" this week. What a loving God we serve!
When I landed on Tuesday I had a text on my phone from one of my special Apache friends who lives in Phoenix. She had sent me a text telling me she received my newsletter and that she had enjoyed it. I sent her a text back telling her I had just landed in Phoenix, could she and her Navajo foster sister have dinner with me. Yep, they sure could she said, so we enjoyed a wonderful Mexican buffet together that evening. We had so much fun, chatting about all kinds of girly things. It was a wonderful welcome to Phoenix and a wonderful "want".
When I had finished looking for housing in Whiteriver a friend of mind invited me to go horseback riding. Wow! Was that ever a "want". I ALWAYS "want" to go horseback riding. It was so out of the blue. I remember when I had left home, Rick had said I should wear my cowboy boots in case I got to go horseback riding. Yeah, right, I thought. That won't happen. But I pulled on my cowboy boots anyway, just in case. Well, it sure did happen. Me and 10 other ladies enjoyed a Ladies Night Out Trail Ride for an hour and a half along the river. Moral of this story, always listen to your husband!
Not only did I get to go horseback riding, but I have 10 new friends in Whiteriver. Can't wait to go back and ride with them again. This gal, a 7th grader who loves rodeoing, said she would teach me how to barrel race in July when I return to Whiteriver. I've always wanted to learn to barrel race. I told her I would teach her to jump her horse since that's what I did when I was in 7th grade. That brought a big grin to her face.
To be continued................... To God Be The Glory!
